Hi,
I downloaded BES express 4.1.4 yesterday and tried to install it in our windows 2003 sbs. At the step "database setting", an alert window showed up and said "Test database connection returned an unknown error". I tried the local sql server which was installed with windows 2003 sbs, as well as a remote sql server 2005 express. I also installed the MDAC 2.8 security patch ms04-003 according to the installation guide. For some reason I couldn't install windows 2003 sp2( I did but after the installation of sp2 the machine couldn't start up and I had to uninstall it).
Does anyone have any idea?

Solved. It worked after I appended the instance name "SBSMONITORING" after the host address.
