I unplug at 7am and by 3pm I'm in the red (down to about 10-15%).

My solution is to plug the phone into my computer every opportunity, it charges fairly quickly via usb....

Whenever I use the mass storage option (which is always, I never use Roxio) I open the media card on my PC and there are no folders. I can drop a video file directly in the main directory...
