External screen problem

I can't view text messages on my external screen anymore. They don't show up, and when I hit the outside buttons, it doesn't let me view them like it used to. Not sure what happened.

1. Today when I turned my phone on, and went to messages, it showed "No messages" but it said I had new ones. So I had to go into the applications area and click on SMS and MSS to get my new texts....
