Default Caller ID Photos using too much memory

Please Login to Remove!

The other day i decided it would be a great idea to get a photo of all of my contacts and add them to my address book so it would show when they call. The photos were bigger than they needed to be, but I just zoomed and cropped them. Now what i didn't realize is that instead of the photos just residing on my SD card, they're now using up the memory on my phone.

I've done lots to maximize my free memory, but i'm still only sitting around 6mb. Would it make a difference if i resized all my photos first, then loaded them into my address book? Any other ideas? or is it just not meant to be?

6Mb is pretty low. Look in Options >Status >menu key >Database sizes. I'm not sure where the photos are stored for address book entries. I'm guessing Content Store.

Did you put all the original photos on the device memory or on a memory card?

i originally put the photos on a memory card, but it seems to have copied to the device memory, because i can delete them on the mem card and they still remain in the address book.

i'm not really sure how to interpret database sizes...
Total Size 1280.7K
Address Book 83/117.5K
Content Store 48/920.9K

Well, while you appear to have almost 1MB of stuff in content store (likely pics and ringtones) your total database size doesn't appear that big.

Have you tried the "Optimize your BB's Memory" thread in my signature?

weird, i let it go the past couple days, and i did a soft reset... my content store is now 51/1759.1K, and total size is 2130K

My file free is at 10MB now though! so that's a little more bearable than 6mb
