My old Sanyo Katana would connect a call (already in progress) to the Acura TL (HandsFreeLink) on-the-fly as I sat in the TL and started the car... then i would just put my Sanyo down and use the TL's speakerphone --

anyone know how to activate this feature with the BB 8330?

I too was able to do this with my old Treo. I have just gotten used to having to manually do it now.

If this is possible I would like to know also.

Hmmm...I didn't know the phone could do that automatically. I just walk into the car, wait for the phone to pair up and be recognized by the TL, hit the phone button and say "transfer". That transfers the call to the speakerphone. I'm sure that's what you mean by "manually"; I had no idea it could be done any other way...

I believe you have to activate "transfer" with HFL. That's is how I had to do it with my RDX.

Try going to your Bluetooth options, then scroll to the Handsfree Link. click on the Blackberry button (the one to the left of the trackball) and scroll to Device Properties. Click on that and see if the HandsFree Link is "trusted." If it says no, change it to yes. Save the change. See if that doesn't make the device automatically link with the car's bluetooth when you turn on the engine.

my 8330 did it out of the box to my infiniti... though it drops the connection all time and re picks it up

I'll try this when I get back in the car. With my old Treo I was also able to make a call direct from the handset while in the car. Now with the BB I have to dial the number, click the track ball, and choose handset if I want to avoid using HFL. If I forget the call is completed but I can not hear the phone ring or the other caller.

Seems odd. Am I missing something?

This should do the trick. I had the same problem before I made my car stereo a "trusted" device. However, my experience is with an 8110 and a Sony aftermarket car stereo.
