You're not turning your 3G or GSM radios off while on wifi?

So I went to my local which has wifi and still had no joy with youtube.
One thought - I must be BIS and not BES as I didn't get this phne through work. After the latest OS update, I cannot change my default browser from 'hotspot browser' in browser options or advanced options. Whereas I understand BES can have it as 'blackberry browser'
Misake, could this be why you can get youtube at work and not at home? Or am I being tenuous?
Are there other Orange uk peeps out there not on BES with the latest OS that can get youtube?
I'm going to keep playing...and get to the bottom of this.

I am a BIS user since my company does not have BES...but anyway, back to the point, I have mine set up as "hotspot browser". Don't ask me why I have it like that...just that I remember reading some post on another thread and somebody suggested doing that LOL ~ But yeah, I only have 3 options: Internet browser, Rogers Mall, Hotspot Browser. I dunno if that answered anything?

Thanks for the info misake. Maybe it's just a uk thing that after the OS update, only 'hotspot browser'is available to BIS phones. But as you say, it sounds the best one to be on anyway.
Well, I had a minor breakthrough this evening. No youtube yet on wifi for my orange uk bold so i tried break mobile website (new to me, much smaller than youtube but you can stream)...
...so i pick a vid, click 'stream', and get green 'loading' and nothing else. (same old, same old)
BUT i then clicked 'download', thinking at least I can put it on the memory card and got given the option to open, save or cancel.
Clicked 'open' and the video buffered for 2 seconds and then played the 4 min clip!!
A minor victory - my uk bold can stream after all!
I now need to get it to do the same on youtube...

After posting the last reply, I thought I'd ride my luck. Went to youtube and my bold crashed after clicking on my first vid

Hey I'm glad SOMETHING is working for you Ronny!
I think the site you're talking about is similar to the site my friend told me to go to ( TinyTube: Mobile Video - Welcome!). I had no problem accessing the videos on that site at home too! But like you said...it's not youtube!!!~

Not sure if this will work or not. It worked fine on my first bold but on the second one I'm using now it didn't work over 3G but did over wifi. I then entered my TCP settings, started operamini and tried with that. Found out that operamini won't allow youtube cause it's not linked with the media player. After that I tried one last time on the bb browser and it finally worked and works now for good. It's possible that it requires the TCP settings and for them to be used to get things going. If it doesn't work for you than this was all acedemic and it was possibly just by fluke that mine starting working.

Whenever I go to youtube my browser setting goes to "hotspot browser". How come it does that? I want it to stay as "internet browser" instead. All the other web pages I go to don't do this :(

Well I've been told by a RIM employee that the issue is with the Carriers particularly Rogers. That's why it always works through wifi but randomly does on 3G.

Yeah, this is a wierd one for sure. On Wi-Fi Youtube has always worked 100% for me, but on 3G is works only some of the time. I just played a video that I couldn't open 20 minutes ago when I forced the bold to 2G/3G only.

I was told that its Rogers actually trying to block youtube for other than the iphone cause the iphone specifically has the youtube app. Now I'm not exactly sure why they want to block it. If you go to another streaming video site it works fine.

So Rogers is blocking it? Idiots, and all for the iPhone? I hope it works on American carriers.

If the video fails to load do this from inside the media player: hit the Blackberry menu button>refresh. Works fine for me everytime.

For me, Youtube will only work in 3g. The problem is the quality. It looks and sounds terrible on every video. Is anyone else experiencing this?
I compared an identical video with a coworkers iphone (side by side), and it made my Bold look handicapped. The sound is so tinny its hard to understand, and the video is filled with artifacts, much more than usual on youtube.
Any thoughts?
