Default Updating OS with Apple Computer

Can anyone give me any insight on how to accomplish this. I have a Macbook Pro and never can do any software updates because all the files you download from blackberry are .exe files.

You can't unless you install Parallels or the such to run Windows.

I'm a Mac user too, and it's frustrating that almost ALL cell phone stuff is Windows-only. I keep an older IBM ThinkPad around just for this stuff. I remain hopeful that with Mac OSX gaining market share, although slowly, we may soon see a Mac-compatible client for updating cell phone firmware and/or OSs. The first company to do this would gain huge points with the Mac community.

In my experience Bootcamp has been flawless. VM Fusion seems to handle USB peripherals better than Parallels. I've never used an emulator (VM Fusion or Parallels) to perform a device OS upgrade. I feel more comfortable while completely booted into Windows (via Bootcamp).

From my personal experience, I have upgraded some BBs using WinXP running in VMWare Fusion, without any problem.

VMWare Fusion & Parallels both work for updating your Blackberry. I have used both, I do however prefer my old Acer Laptop with Windows XP, that way I am free to use my mac during the update.

For those who have used VMWare: Would you only recommend it for advanced users, or is it easy enough for a beginner?

If you've ever installed an OS on a Mac or PC you'll be fine. All it really entails is installing VM Fusion and then it walks you through the whole setup process of the Windows OS. Only other thing you'll need is an XP install disc.

Default HELP with installing OS Update and Parallels

Hey Guys/Gals,

I'm trying to update my OS using Parallels on my MacBook and can't seem to get it to work. After downloaded and installing the update, I plug in my BB Curve and start up Desktop Manager and nothing happens. I was told it would automatically notify me that I need to update. Any help would be great! Cheers,

... ttb

Nevermind! Just figured it out -- needed to delete the vendor.xml file again...
