Dude, this OS sucks, tooooo slow....

And yes... 4.2 made the red led flash when you got a mixed call, very convenient.

I'm biting the bullet and doing the upgrade. Do I have to uninstall desktop manager 4.2 or can I just install over it?

and I got all the themes working (iphone theme etc), and xplayer (which is not needed with the new media player in 4.5 so I deleted it) working as well, soft reset and colour pearl do not work, however. Don't know about any other apps??

I had to take it to another computer and it installed fine without a hitch. Now desktop manager 4.5 won't recognize the 8100.

I just upgraded the OS last night and so far it looks to be a big step up from 4.2.X which was my last update.

However, I am having one issue and it is related to AIM. I know most experts here recommend other apps and in fact I already have GoogleTalk set up to access my AIM buddies and everything.

I get the error message "service not enabled for this handheld". Since this is supposed to be the update when the carriers use data instead of SMS on AIM, and because the program came with the OS upgrade, I don't understand why it would not work. I tried going to the BlackBerry site and I see that AIM is not listed as one of the programs available for my 8100 Pearl.

Anyone have any ideas? Do you think that installing the newest version of AIM using DM would solve this problem? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Anyone else having an issue with bluetooth and/or the mute key? I have been running the new OS with no issues. This past weekend I started using bluetooth and I noticed later that the mute key would not put the BB in standby. Occasionally it does seem to work more often if I shut off the bluetooth first. I have to do a battery pull to get it go into standby once it stops working.

I don't understand why this install was such a pain to get going.
I'm going to try to get my Pearl recognized once I get home from work.

I am still trying to fix the AIM issue I am running into. I'm going to try to delete the AIM install from the update and try to download it OTA.

But I do have another question. They changed the way that the screen appears while a call is on and I noticed that the background screen during this is the default blue wallpaper, not the picture I have selected as wallpaper. Does anyone know how to change it?

I still can't get desktop manager to recognize my 8100. I've reinstalled and still nothing. What else can I do?

All the 81xx OS's are there, 8100 through 8130.

You can only load the OS that is for your specific device. The 8120 OS will not work on an 8110!
