Default BES and BIS question

I am on a corporate BES account. Will it mess anything up for me to open a BIS account to have a personal gmail account directed to my handheld?

Your BES account includes like 10 BIS accounts.

You should talk to your IT Staff/BES Admin first to see if that is allowed since it is a corporate device. Many companies lock down what you can and cannot do via an IT Policy. Also keep in mind that nothing is really personal if it is on a BES device.

The best advice I can give is leave the corporate stuff on the company device. If you need your personal email, then get a personal device for that. It stinks to have to carry 2, but also much safer that way.

And then there is the other side of the coin, where I would never carry two devices.

Do ask your IT admin, but it won't mess anything up to have personal email on the device if they allow it, as in that it will not interfere with any of the corporate BES services. What Dubdub says is true, however it is a very very common matter to have personal email on the device with the corporate.

Thanks for the advice guys. I am the president of the company and have the default policy on my device. We are a small company and have an outside IT person maintain our server. I only have two email accounts so I don't have to give out my company address to sign up for sites and buy things. I was just concerned that the service books from the BIS might interfere with the service books for the BES.

I appreciate all the great information I get on this site.

No you don't need to worry about the service books from BIS messing up the BES service books as they are separate and will quite happily cohabit on the same device

FWIW I have a device running through my BES, which also has a BIS address too and everything is fine and dandy.
