Entering the PW incorrectly the 10th time will erase all data from your BlackBerry. It sounds like you might be halfway there.

Is that device on a BES? If it is, you can reset the password from the BES.

This #10 applies for the live of the blackberry? Or does it start back in zero after a successful login? If the first is true, which does not make much sense to me, changing the password would reset the count of failures back to zero?

There is no master password. If you forgot your password, then your device will wipe all of the data when you enter the password incorrectly 10 times.
There is no way to prevent that from happening.

Once your device does its security wipe after you enter the wrong password for the 10th time, your device will reset and you can set a new password.
You can then restore your data to your device from your most recent backup.

No, you get 10 attempts in a row. Once you've entered the password incorrectly 10 times in a row, the BB wipes itself and you start from scratch.

If you enter the password incorrectly and then correctly the count resets to 0. It's not cumulative.

Thanks! That's what makes sense!
