Question Help..!! 8811 turn on then off..!!

Please Login to Remove!

Hello there,

I was wondering whether I could get some assistance with my BBerry Pearl (8811)

The problems began when I took the phone out of my pocket to discover it was turning itself on and off.

After being referred to this thread, I have spent almost 4 hours trying to wipe and reinstall my operating system.

The problem I am having with the installation is that I cant get the app loader past attempting to reconnect to the JVM stage. The message i receive is that;

" Unable to reconnect to the device during multi-stage load operation"

I have the phone connected directly to the USB port (no hub etc)

It seems that when I replace the battery (as per point 13) the phone gets to the JVM section it begins the cycle of turning itself on and off - which means the phone is only intermitently visable to my computer.

I have tried using JL_Cmder but i'm not sure whether it has done anything as there has been no change in the phone (Still restarting..!!!)

I am getting quite upset and keep having thoughts of how far out of my window I can hurl it...!!!

Any assistance you good people can provide before I get to that stage would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,

Hello there John,

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I have tried the procedure you suggested.

All is fine using the app loader. Things seem to go wrong during the OS install itself..!!

hmm.. did you try a different version of the OS its self? (make sure to delete vendor.xml file, if its not from your carrier)

when u use jl_cmder, do you get a 507 error on the bb or its just a reset loop? or nothing on the screen?

i doubt its the usb prot or your computer, sounds like bb its self, but you can try another location to see results...

i think i have seen that problem before though, nothing on the screen comes up when it tries to connect jvm? red LED blinks? and resets every 5-10 sec?

hello Mike_187

I have tried a different version of the OS to no avail.

When I use jl_cmder, there is nothing on the screen, the BB is simply caught in the reset loop.

I installed everything on a friends computer (newer) however the problems of reinstalling the OS with the reset loop are still here..!!

" i think i have seen that problem before though, nothing on the screen comes up when it tries to connect jvm? red LED blinks? and resets every 5-10 sec?"

This is exactly what is happening!! I sure do hope there is a fix for this..

8811? Only pearl models are 8110 (not yet out as far as i know), 8120, 8130, and 8100, make sure you are downloading the proper OS for your phone. An 8120 os will not work on a different model BB. and as to your question, has your device gotten any moisture on it at all? the battery indicator is on the bottom of the battery, has 4 red X's on a white background. on the device itself, in the battery compartment, there would bea solid white sticker that turns pink to red when wet. are either of these indicators showing liquid damage.
