Default BlackBerry DM 4.6

Please Login to Remove!

Folks - I installed Desktop Manager ver 4.6 (downloaded it from BlackBerry website) on my laptop on Windows XP SP3. I was hoping that once I install the Desktop Manager and connect my BlackBerry 8320 (T-Mobile) to it, it would automatically detect and upgrade the handheld software or the blackberry OS. Instead it said "No software upgrade is required for your device".

I am confused. Can anyone please tell me how to download and upgrade the OS piece in my handheld?

Current versions

v4.2.2.180 (Platform 2.5.0.36)

Welcome to BlackBerryForums.

You are half way there. You need 2 things:

1. BlackBerryDM (which you have)
2. The OS to put on your Berry.

Look here for instructions. You'll find other useful info in FAQ section.

Good luck.

Thanks for your response. Actually TMobile USA has not yet upgraded the handheld software version. I checked the TMobile site and it still displays the same version as on my hand held. Infact there is not much of difference between the TMobile version and the version on the BlackBerry site. Will it be safe to upgrade to a higher version than the one supported by my carrier?

You can use any carrier's OS on your BB as long as it's a GSM version.

Can you give me the link for downloading the latest version of OS on my 8320? Any backup plan you would like to suggest in case something screws up?

There is a "stickie" at the top of this discussion section. Make sure you match the correct device number:
