Well, I can tell you from my experience so far with the Bold, it has been spotty. 3G does not seem to be very stable and the download times are no faster than EDGE! Just anecdotal observation but sometimes I find EDGE is faster as the connection is more stable.
Another observation is I sometimes have to switch between 2G and 3G to "reboot" the cell connection. Messages, browsing and email will stall until I switch the network connection. Does anybody with a Bold experience this too?
I am on Maxis (upgraded v 4.6.0.144) and it was the same before upgrading the software. Very frustrating!

othernet,
please elaborate what seems to be your problem? Have you verified that your Data Access and BB access are working? Sync messages fine? How about surfing? When you send a message across, does it have the tick sign only? Or does it have D or R? Really would help if you provided more info. Thanks!
Cheers!

higfunk11.. spoke to Celcom guy today.. The business plan is for BES subscription and the Vodafone bold is priced at RM2,099 for this package..
Well, for that price i think you'd better opt for Maxis open set. Only RM2,299..

I understand Maxis and Celcom does not offer international un-limited data plan. Seems like only carriers in US offer international un-limited data and not anywhere else in the world.
Do you know if this is a price "cap" imposed my Maxis or Celcom for international data usage?

Hi
Almost all carriers in Hong Kong do provide unlimited international data plan, but it costs around HK1000 (USD128).
Btw, enjoy reading posts from you guys.

It's the Maxis line which is the culprit, so there's not much you can do about it. The handoff from 2G to 3G and back is not as elegant as Celcom. I find when I put my Celcom SIM into the Bold I don't get the same issues as when I use my Maxis SIM.

I wonder if you guys have heard of MyPDACafe? It would be great if you sifus could share your expertise there as well.
The MPC thread on the Bold can be found here forum.mypdacafe.com/viewtopic.php?t=20018
Hopefully I'm not infringing any rules on this forum doing this.

Did you make sure the other person's PIN was properly accepted on your Bold? Could be as simple as that.
I've been messengering since the first day I got my device without any issues.

This thing really sucks the battery life too. By evening, I am down to 1 bar!

263 is really new. Mind sharing where you got it from?
I'm still on 4.6.0.150 (Platform 4.0.0.148).
But the 150 doesn't show any of those blinking LEDs for no reason, and although the battery does seem to be running down fast, but it's slower than when I had the stock Maxis OS which came with my phone.

Is this the price to the public after the pre-registration price of RM2199?

I think the poster means this :
Package Version: 4.6.0.263
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.6.0.144
Software Platform: 4.0.0.143
File name: 9000jEastAsia_PBr4.6.0_rel263_PL4.0.0.143_A4.6.0.1 44_Telstra.exe

Aha. These naming conventions are very confusing for people like me. I've seen people refer to that build as v4.6.0.144 i.e. by the Applications version, not the package version. Sorry about that. Too eager as usual. My bad.
BTW I'm on v4.6.0.150 (Platform 4.0.0.148). Don't remember the package version though.

othernet, you should upgrade your OS as the package version you're using is rather old.
