Default Handheld toast?

Please Login to Remove!

I just got a brand new bb 8310 and I went to update the OS (which I have done millions of times on many different bb) and it failed a little while through. However in the past when this has happened (maybe once or twice) I've been able to use JL_Cmder and wipe the device and just plug it in and restart the process through desktop manager. Now I cannot connect to the device using JL_Cmder and all I have is the 2 blink LED flashing.

Anything to try or is this hand held toast?

Great! This works. Thanks a lot and sorry if this question has been answered a million times. I did search the forums a bit and nothing I queried came up with this thread. Thanks a million!

what if this doesnt work either?
my friend's curve 8320 just suddenly entered into a contnuous boot cycle. red led flashes, then hourglass screen then nothing and then red led flash again. it just cycles like this until the battery dies.
i tried "What to do next if Jl Cmder will not connect and wipe - BlackBerryFAQ" and it did manage to connect to the bb and erase everything (according to the progress report) but cant finish loading JVM and system software.
is there anything else i could try?

bangus236, you may want to try it more then once. Sometimes this process takes 2 or 3 tries before it works properly. I had a 8310 that I thought was gone after the first try did not work, but by the 3rd time I got it.

I have seen it take 20 tries. Try the process both with the battery IN and OUT.

Very few are not recovered... good luck.

You said that JL_Cmder connected and erased everything. Is it still in the reboot sequence or does it give you an error if you boot it back up?

Try this and see if it helps.

With the BB connected, open up command prompt. Change directories to where JL_Cmder is located (Should be something like C:\Program Files\JL_Cmder) and try running the following command: javaloader.exe -u wipe

See if that kicks back an error or if it wipes the device.

Okay, disconnect your BB, shut down the Desktop Manager, go in to Windows Task Manager and make sure any process related to either BB or RIM is ended. You may see one process for each, so make sure you shut down the process. Now try it again.

Also, when you installed the OS on your computer, did you remove the vendor.xml file before attempting the upgrade?

Sorry to hear that. I had an issue similar to this recently getting the unable to open port error. I had to replace the device, luckily it was under warranty.

Here is the issue I was having : http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ml#post1107655

Hopefully you can recover yours. Lets us know.

Damn, I've recovered from the same problem with a Perl I was fixing. So you were able to wipe using JL_Cmder but even after a wipe it is on a continous reboot loop?

I gotcha, I thought you were able to wipe it but are still stuck in a reboot loop which made it even stranger.
