Default Odd user request

Please Login to Remove!

G'day folks,

I have a few clients on BPS and have installed a full BES in the recent past (all 4.1 on Exchange), and have a request that I *think* is odd, mostly because I don't think it can be done.

One user at a company with BPS installed wants to clean off her 8830's inbox, and keep everything in her Outlook inbox. In other words, she wants to keep her Blackberry inbox clean, without moving anything out of her Outlook/Exchange inbox.

Anyone know if this is possible - i.e. can messages be deleted off the Blackberry, and remain in the Outlook inbox?

There's also another user at this site that WANTS to be able to delete off their BB and have it reconcile with their Outlook.

I'm guessing we can't have it both ways.

??

Just change the email reconciliation options for the BPS email account (on the device.) Set "delete on" to handheld, instead of mailbox & handheld. Then he/she can remove emails from the inbox on the device without affecting the server inbox.

under message screen, goto options, email reconciliation.

change the 'Delete on:' option.

Delete on Handheld: BB inbox is clean, outlook keeps mail. this is the default option.

Delete on Mailbox and handheld: well.. deletes from both.

Default Can it be done from the BES Admin interface?

Maybe not so odd after all Thanks for the replies.

Can this be set per user from the BES/BPS Manager interface?

Also, she'd like to be able to mass delete email from her BB - any suggestions?

Thanks much!

Cheers,

Email reconciliation has to be done from the users BB. To mass delete emails just highlight a date banner and choose the Delete Prior option from the menu.

Sorry. Since my question is related, I'm jumping on this thread.....

Currently we have set to delete on device but not on server mailbox (Domino environment). We are contemplating changing that in the near future. I would like to ask "again" whether the choice to delete on handheld AND mailbox can be done centrally, maybe from an IT Policy??????

And a related question, if the user has his/her device set to get rid of messages after x-number of days, when that time arrives will the message be deleted from the mailbox ALSO ? (I hope not).

Thanks in advance for any information,

You can't set it centrally.

Messages are not deleted on the server when the device purges data (ie when it's older than x days). It also doesn't delete on the server REGARDLESS of the delete on handheld/mailbox setting when you select delete prior on a day.

AH, thanks TargetIT. I hadn't thought of that one.
