Default Review/Comparison of 7290?

Please Login to Remove!

I have my 7290 on order and it should arrive early next week. In the meantime, I have scoured the 'net with little luck on a full review, or a definitive posting by someone that has one on what they think of it. I am curious about screen, performance, keyboard, web browsing, enhancements, bluetooth, etc. I know that a month or so ago there were some random posts on the forums here, but I haven't seen too much now that it has actually been released.

Anyone?

Default 7290

I goit my 7290 today and I thinks its great. I'm upgrading from a 7280 and their is no compasison. The sceen is amazing with 2 different light settings to choose from. You can put pictures on the desktop and also change the screen saver. I've got a bluetooth headset for my Moto V600 and it works great with the 7290. I think I can almost use 1 device now. just need the camera to take oics sometimes.

Basically I think the 7290 is great.

PS
NEW VERSION OF BRICK BREAKER!!!

Cool! I'm coming from a 7280 also and I'm glad to hear you like the screen better. Bluetooth will be cool too. Thanks for posting your thoughts.

The screen is more 7780's style.

The 7290 is definitely a sweet device. The screen is very bright without the backlight in the outdoors, and inside the two levels of backlight make it nice. The bluetooth works flawlessly for me with my Motorola headset. I am loving this device more everyday. All we need now is 4.0

Compared to my 7750:

The 7290's backlight is much better. It is much more white when turned to the highest setting, and the keys have a white almost blue color when lit, as opposed to the greenish color of the 7750 keys.

Bluetooth works great with my Bluespoon headset. Processing the 7290 is of course faster than my 7750, but hopefully that will be taken care of when Rim releases 4.0.

It is shorter in length but a little more thick in the middle when compared to the 7750. The smooth casing of the 7290 is great. Looks much better than the 7750's brushed plastic look. I only wish they put the rubber pieces that are on the sides of the 7750 on the 7290. The battery life is also better on the 7290.

The only problems I have which are not Rim's fault, is that Cingular's coverage here in NC is not as good as Verizon's. A prime example is I have no coverage at my house with Cingular, but with VZW I can get coverage. I really do like the 7290 better than the 7750, but I am still debating whether it is worth not being able using my phone at my house, and a few other places.

Default Upgrading to 7290

For those of you who upgraded from a 7280, does anybody know how it works cost wise from Rogers ??

What charges are there or do you buy the machine outright ??

No, you'll have to pay the full price.

Why the incremental upgrade? Unless they give deals like the above to upgrade, i wouldn't bother. Unless of course you have the money to burn..

it's a very incremental upgrade, in a year there will be devices worthy of the upgrade.
