Hi All,

New to this forum, and have recently been having some probs with my work Blackberry 8100 Pearl phone. I thought you guys would be able to help...

I do have a memory problem but I need to write the details down so while I write that, can someone assist with the following:

Is it possible to increase the time that your phone rings for? My phone will do 2 rings and then cut straight to voicemail? Anyway to increase the time until it clicks through or just ring for longer. I seem to miss so many calls getting it out of my bag or pocket!

Thanks to you both, however I still have a query:

Kenvan60 - Trying your answer it rings 3 times on 'normal' and goes to voicemail?? So 1 more than the 'loud' option.

JSanders - Tried your two links, however I do not have a 'number of beeps' option when going through the phone option?? I do have that option for SMS, but not for phone??

I also had a look at the access code link posted by someone else to try**61*, however I do not have an access code??


Sorry to push this back, but can you or anyone else help?? I find my blackberry a really good tool, but surprised there isn't an easy option for this?

clander--The easy option is to call your carrier.
per the link above:

A) The simplest method is to call your carrier and request a longer ring time, up to 30 seconds.

That is because it is a universal GSM code. It should work on all GSM phones, and your AT&T 8100 is a GSM phone.

Hey I tried the **61* think and after the call went through it just beeped what sounded like a busy signal numerous times before just ending the call. Does this mean it's set? lol Any idea's? I'm not too worried about it just stumbled acrossed this thread and thought I'd try it because it's something I was curious about as well.

Did you dial and then hit the call key? You should get some sort of a message that it went through. Been a while since I have been on GSM and set that, I don't remember it exactly. If you go on HowardForums: Your Mobile Phone Community & Resource and search for ringtime extension, I posted exactly how to do it and what it says when you successfully send it.

Make sure you are using the right Voice Mail number when doing this or you will scerw up your voicemail forwarding. You need to use the number in the Phone>Options>Call Forwarding list and not the number in your Voice Mail Options. The number in your voice mail options is the number you call to retrieve your voicemails while the other is the number your unanswered incoming calls get forwarded to. Using the VM number will forward people to the AT&T VoiceMail Center and NOT to your VM.

The FAQ needs to be corrected as it instructs you on where to locate your VM access number and not the VM forward number.


FOR ANYONE WANTING TO INCREASE YOUR RING TIMES... CALL YOUR CARRIER AND AVOID THE ISSUES...LOL
