Hello,
But will this softwae continue to exist on my BB if I wipe clean the device by entering the wrong password 10 times or may be doing wipe clean from the options menu ?

I recently installed Mcafee free beta and the software does not exist on the BB after a wipe clean action.

If this is the same with Roblock too, then I don't see this any useful because the thief can easily wipe clean the device, infact for profiles with password, the thief will have to wipe clean the device to make any use of it.

I just tried then bought Robolock 2.0. I think the main new feature is a web interface in addition to the sms method of wiping. The sms method seems to work slightly better, but I'm on UMA at home which might have made things harder for the program.

I couldn't get the location to show through the website, but it worked through sms. It seems to use either GPS, or Google Maps data if you have Google Maps. When Google Maps couldn't get a fix (I have almost no cell signal at my home) there was no map. But if Google Maps figured a location, it would show the same location as shows on Google Maps on my phone.

On the website, I did not try remote wipe. But lock, unlock, call back, and display text worked. "Retrieve contacts" seemed to have the same problem "where" did. It just kept trying but didn't work.

One thing I haven't seen metioned it that when you send the lock signal, you can't unlock the device even with the password. A battery pull fixes that, but interesting to note you could tie up the device even if someone knew the password. Then you could wipe it.

The program runs in the background and shows up in switch applications. Not sure how it affects battery life since I just installed yesterday and I've had it on the desk charger all day long.

Robolock has locked up on me. I can't get it to open at all and the commands do not work. I've uninstalled it and even completely wiped the phone with JL_Cmdr and reinstalled the OS. But that did not seem to reset Robolock. I can't get into it to set the password or the contact phone number.

If I try to open it, it takes forever and then will go to a white screen. At any point, the only way to get out is the red end key.

I've started up a trouble ticket with Dexmobile.

Ok, after 3 weeks and 3 requests (1 through Handago) Dexmobile got back to me. They said it might be that "Your device seems to retain the Roblock Trial Expiration information."

They gave me a link to an application to clear it. It did not work even on a wipe and fresh 4.5.0.81 OS install. So I resorted to a wipe then downgrade to a 4.2 OS. Then the application started working again. So I upgraded to 4.5.0.69 and again it worked. Thinking I could go to .81 or .102, I tried .81 and it no longer worked. Same white screen. So now I'm on .69 again.

What seems to be the issue is that when it is installed under 4.2 and 4.5.0.69 is there are 2 pop-up security messages. One says something about the application trying to access a data connection or something. Another about accessing GPS information. So you click "Allow" on both.

Under 4.5.0.81 and above, these 2 messages do not come up. So although the permissions are set to "Allow" for everything in the settings, there probably is something in the OS restricting the access somehow.

Since .81 is the Tmobile release, I hope they work out this issue. It could just be my device, but not sure why it wouldn't work on .81.

Ok, based on this, I tried reinstalling and through a long series of events found out it was because I had removed this .cod file from the install:

net_rim_font_european_sff.cod

This file is not in the .69 OS which is why it worked fine. I did remove net_rim_tid_fastEuropean.cod from that one with no problems.

I installed the trial on my Bold running OS .190 just to make sure it worked, and then I tested all the features minus the wipe and everything worked great. So I purchased this software and test ran the WI and everything also worked great.

Now, the only fear I need to overcome is to test the remote wipe feature........

This is just too cool, but I have thoughts about:

- What if the thief puts a SIM in that doesn't have a Data plan attached, how would the email notification work?

- What if the thief has text's disabled? Would they go through anyway and I could really rack up his/her bill?

I will say the remote lock with vibration and siren is just classic. It had me LOL when it went off...

I noticed that if you do a remote lock you can't unlock it via the * > talk, but you can unlock it by a battery pull or doing alt > aA > del.

In a perfect world you would wipe it as soon as you know it's missing, but I personally don't carry multiple devices so I would need to borrower someones phone to send the command[s] or quickly call a contact to send the command[s] for me. So I hope Ascendo DataVault lives up to its name!

Also just as a side note, I typed up the commands on a que card, laminated it and stuffed it in my wallet just for the time something did go wrong and I had a brain fart on the commands.....

for the developer!

I love the sw but their cs leaves much to be desired. The phone number on their website is hardly ever answered, email questions from their site are also hardly ever answered. I switched devices and contacted them over 2 weeks ago and still no answer.

Has anyone with Roblock 2 tried it with Sprint? Their site claims it works with all versions with 4.2 OS or above.

I installed it, but the automatic registration did not work, the manual one did. I tried testing the text and where features, text work,ed but where did not work by SMS, but if I chose Verify Settings, it did send the location by e-mail. I also can not get the web interface to connect to the phone. I do not want to try to Lock it by SMS incase the unlock feature does not work right now.

The Roblock version 2.0.9.2 seems to be working from email, SMS, and web interfaces on my Blackberry 8900 Javelin on T-Mobile (running 4.6.1.168).

Lock, Unlock, and Where commands work. Didn't test Wipe. The Where command even picks up the GPS under certain conditions. From the web interface, you can now trigger an "error message" window with the message of your choice or have the phone call you.

Ok, so I've downloaded the trial version, and collected the promo code to upgrade in a day or so, but I have a couple questions for you current users.

1. website access? Is that only in the full version?

2. where function - again, only in full version?

Thanks,

Rebecca

The web interface worked when I was doing the trial. The where function is not 100% reliable when I try it. Requires Google Maps I think if there's no built in GPS.
