for anyone that's used both, is there any differences between the Curve and Bold keypads: size, touch, feel etc.

If so, am wondering if the differences are drastic or minor, and if it'll be easy to adjust to the Bold coming from the Curve.

Yes there is. Gotta try the Bold. IMO the best BB keyboard ever. The fingers fly key to key. I am not good enough of a writer to put it in words, but I love the Bold keyboard.

I've heard folks who are used to the Curve keyboard say they can't stand the Bold keyboard. I guess it's what you're used to. Personally, the Bold keyboard is the best I've ever used. Nothing short of a minor miracle, I tell ya! But then I'm coming from a couple of Palm Treos so almost ANYthing will look good to me.

what's the reason for some Bold keypads have the numbers painted red, where as other picturs of the keypad shows no numbers in white, making it more difficult to view.

Yeah, I have a Bold with red numbers. Bad Choice RIM!

But the keyboard is I think better than my Curve one. Less 'clicky', feels more solid and 'smooth'. I've been thinking I really wanted a Javelin, but I'm now wondering how that will feel after this Bold...

I have owned both and personally I like the Bold keyboard 10x better for useability as well as the fact that the Curve you could always here the buttons "clicking" where as the Bold seems more rubberized and are silent.

Definitely get the Bold vote from this guy!

I find I can type faster and more accurately on Curve.

I do hope Jav continues the Curve's spaced keypad, rather than adopt the Bold format.

Personally I will need to try the Bold out to know if it suits my fingers or not. I was very happy with the Curve's key layout, more so then the 8800 even. But the cheap, plasticky sounding noise it made when typing was a turn off.

I cant wait for AT&T and BB to get some real units on display so I can try them out.

The Bold has more the feel of the 8800 keyboard with a bit more spacing. It is a fine keyboard but the touch is very different from 8310.

I love the "click" of the curve keys. Reminds me of my HP Calculator.

I rank them this way...

#1 Bold Keyboard - the "ridge" added to each key is excellent imho, and makes sliding from one key to the next very easy. I also like the way the keys press, just the right tension, and not too far to press completely.

#2 8700(c) Keyboard - What can I say, it was big, the keys were big, and the spacing was great.

#3 Curve (8310) Keyboard - The keys were too small for me, and made it hard to pass from one key to the next quickly. I did like the solid "click" when pressing a key, but the distance to press completely was always to much, and made typing slightly slower.

I sure hope that's not red numbers on a black background, because I have partial color blindness and won't be able to see them. I remember in school looking at charts in a textbook that had red and black lines delineating whatever it was that was the focus of the chart, and both lines looked exactly the same color to me.

I love the feel of the Curve, much more than the 8800, but I find that I make more typing mistakes with the Curve than I did with the 8800, so I'm encouraged that the Bold will fit me just fine, if ever it gets here.

Not sure what is on the at&t Bold, but the Rogers Bold has Red numbers on black keys. My guess is they were attempting to keep the color scheme from the End Call/Power button (red phone, black button).

I had both 8300 & 8310 Curves and I much prefer the Bold keyboard. It just feels so good to type with. Doesnt feel as plasticky and clicky as the Curve and with the extra size, I find I have very few typing errors if any compared to the Curve!

ATT has all white on black keyboard. No red.

This does appear to be the case. In every picture of a Bold with the AT&T logo on it, the numbers are white.

On the curve (8310), the numbers are distinguished on each key from the associated letter by color: numbers are black, letters are white. I like this, especially when the keypad is lit up at night.

Am wondering how the AT&T-Bold's keypad will look when it's lit up, and if the numbers will be as easily distinguishable as on my curve (am not to the piont of memorizing the keys so.....).
