Default AIM on Bold

Does any one know of a free AIM client on the Bold with AT&T or how to get Ramble IM to work? It won't let me log in. I also tried webmessenger and got a bad request error. Thanks.

For a free client go to the MEdia Net icon. once loaded scroll down to the catagories section. select #3 which is Mail & Messaging. After the page loads scroll to Mobile IM.. when u download it should say OZ instant Messaging.. After u finnish the download just check your "downloads" folder. OZ comes with AIM, YAHOO, and Windows Messenger

Sounds like you may have some other issues with your phone. I have Ramble on my Bold and it works perfectly. Maybe you are having some communications issues? What is the error?

Does OZ work with SMS or through data plan?

I needed a program that used data instead of sms (OZ program). I went to mobile.blackberry.com and clicked on the Download AOL Instant Messenger link and works fine so far. I hope it works on data and not sms.

When did the Blackberry AIM client start working on AT&T? That's new. First BB Maps is back, now the AIM client, what is going on at AT&T!

I can't believe i didn't find this before:

nimbuzz (cant link cause i dont have enough posts)

It installed on my phone and appears to be working. EQO is supposed to be another program that works, and they both use data not sms, supposedly.

Just read this post and thought I'd give it a shot... AIM works just fine for me as well so far.

No one using beejive?

I haven't used anything other than beejive, but I'm pretty sure I'll never leave it.

That post seems more like the old hack with service books... If you just go to http://mobile.blackberry.com on an AT&T bold, you can download both AIM and ICQ clients.

I believed he asked for a free Instant messenger.
I too use beejive but found that beejives kills the batter to my bold very quickly. I tested IM+ and with IM Push mode i found the battery to last hours longer. Wish they were lower the price. u'd figure after beejive came into the picture that they were lower their price to compete

Yes, there's a thread about it somewhere. You need to install it from Desktop Manager and use a third party theme on the Bold. The AT&T theme blocks the icon, I want a today theme anyway.

I'm using a today theme that someone was generous enough to create and post for free, the link is m.onthearm.com.

Okay, I interpreted your post a little differently. I took it as AT&T had relinquished its "lock" on BB Maps and allowed it to come through the all natural way.

My understanding is that you don't have to change your theme. It really doesn't have anything to do with that. I have my BB Maps icon on any theme I use, including the default AT&T theme. It's just when you click on it, the program won't run because of the blank BB Maps service books.

I posted in another thread on this subject. I wish one person would make a more concise step by step guide. I have a question in on one thread that has yet to generate a response.
