Default Blackberry Bold Trackball

Please Login to Remove!

Hello. Have you all ran into any issues with the trackball on the Blackberry Bold being somewhat loose? I have only had mine for about a week and have noticed that the trackball is loose. If I put my finger on the trackball and don't even put pressure to push it, it still goes in. Any ideas? Thanks.

Take it back to where you bought it and either get it repaired or replaced.

Default Had to change mine...

After 2 months of use, the trackball on my Bold became "loose" and the click feeling was not there anymore. I called Rogers support and they sent me a refurbished one. I have a feeling that the trackball (mainboard copper spring) is not very robust for the Bold. Time will tell.

i try to use as less 'clicks' as possible... i try to go for the 'enter' button or 'menu'... saves your balls.

I've noticed that with minimal pressure on the ball, I can spin it and it does nothing. I need to put a little pressure on it when spinning it to get things to move. No big deal really!

Yes the trackball is much looser then the Curve or 8800 series, mine loosened up after just a few short days. I wouldn't go as far as to say don't use the trackball as often as you'd like! i mean after all, you pay for something, you wanna use it! The worst case scenario is if things get worse over time, call customer care for whoever your carrier is and say my trackball doesn't work. They'll ship out a replacement within a couple of days!

I have a different 'issue"... My trackball, so far, is fine (i got it about a week ago) and I have realized that I have to press the trackball "deeper" than my friend's... it still works fine but I just have to press "harder".... is that a problem? or is that normal (different from devices)? Also, take a look at this website: Cellular Accessories - Sony, Microsoft, Mobiado, NEC, Acer, Alcatel, Motorola, Dopod/O2, HTC, Panasonic track ball is like 8 bux or so... maybe you can just order it, and replace the trackball yourself? seems like disassembly isn't terribly difficult...

Nah, id leave it alone and not start taking it apart, you void the warranty when you do stuff like that! *It is a deeper press then the Curve. However that's just the way they designed it for the Bold, if it gets to deep, just call customer care and give em the old sob story, they'll replace it!
