Default Speed Dial - Are letters available?

Please Login to Remove!

On my previous BBs, you could assign speed dial to any letter button as well as digits. Can you do this on the storm? I can assign speed dials to digits, but can't figure out how to assign to letter characters.

Not as far as I can tell. It would only let me assign #2-9. 1 is for voicemail.

As sophisticated as the Storm should be you would at least think that you can assign letters to your speed dial. I used those quite often when I had my 8830.

This is a huge omission. How easy would it have been to use the dial pad icon (upper left on the phone screen) to toggle back and forth between the dial pad and and the suretype keyboard? This would have been simple and extremely useful especially to people that had already gotten used to assigning speed dials to letters.

Yeah, I was disappointed by this as well. To go from having many speed dial options to eight is a let down.

Lightbulb Complaints About Too Few Speed Dial Numbers?

Don't Know Why Many Complain About Too Few Speed Dial Numbers. The BB STORM Voice activated dialing is the best I've ever had ...and I've had a few phones with voice activated dialing that just sucked.

So, forget the speed dialing...just hit the left convenience button and voice-activated dialing is good to go!

Cool Complaints About Too Few Speed Dial Numbers...Addendum

Addendum to my previous post: If you don't have a contacts list, then I guess voice-activated dialing is of little use. However, I made the assumption that most folks would have synced a contact list. And, if a number is called frequently enough to require a speed dial number, how hard is it to add a new contact to your contact list?

I miss my speed dial too...

But, I can live w/ only 2-9 I guess, I really only have a few people I want on speeddial...

If only there were a speeddial app, you could launch that instead of the voice dial (sorry, I don't like when it calls the wrong person w/o any confirmation...) and then click the name of who you want to call from your choices... you could fit way more than 9 useable links on the screen.

I don't know about you, I had 26 friends and each of there names started with a different letter. I am now looking for friends whose names start with numbers.
Seriously it is so much easier to associate a name with a letter as opposed to numbers. Lets see wife should be 1, but no voicemail is 1...this can be a tricky game, who gets the lower number - wife, girlfriend, mother or boss?

Default Speed Dial

As far as I know you can use 1-9, and also any 2 -digit combination as well, so many more combinations.

Yes, that is exactly the feature that all of my non "smart phones" have had that I truly miss.

HOW do you do this?
