Default DM 4.7 and Yahoo sync?

Please Login to Remove!

didn't mean to get off topic in my prior thread, so i'll try this: does anyone know if DM 4.7 syncs with Yahoo Calendar, Address Book, etc? don't want to install if it doesn't.
thank you,
gm

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

I dont know. However, it does sync with outlook and outlook syncs with yahoo. It would just be an extra sync.

thanx akosnitzky, i'm just bummed because DM 4.2 had direct yahoo sync, but doesn't seem to like in my new laptop w/vista, so went with 4.6 and the yahoo sync options are gone. don't really want to get into outlook and have a 3 way sync going.

ps- in fact, with my DM 4.6, there's not even an outlook option, so something must be very screwy with the version i downloaded.

i did some googling and nosing around on the RIM site and here's what i think happened: i think the install wasn't complete, as i've found some threads about what RIM calls 'connectors' or some type of conduit. i went into my program files>RIM>Blackberry>IS71 Connectors, and there i found files for MS outlook, OE, Yahoo, Lotus and a couple of others. inside those folders are dll files, but apparently some are missing or not interacting properly with DM 4.6. the post described a command prompt as a repair, but i was unsuccessful after several tries. then it was 1 a.m. and i pooped out, so after another shot today, if it doesn't work, i'll probably uninstall and reinstall. wish me luck, and thanks for all the help!

I am using 4.2 for just this reason. Is 4.7 a better product in any meaningful way?

GLOCKshooter, i did a thorough uninstall and installed 4.7 without the roxio stuff from a fresh download, and the yahoo sync option was there this time. still not much help, as when i do sync with my yahoo calendar, i get duplicates, triplicates, and quadruplicates. just useless. plus now, when i sync with windows contacts in vista, it won't continue the sync. it times out with an error sign about 'connector' problems. have researched in all the forums about those, which are very common, and tried every fix suggested to absolutely no avail. i'm giving up and using my palm pilot which always works quickly and flawlessly for calendar and contacts. trying to get my Curve to do these things has become a second career and i just don't think it's worth it. it's fine for phone, camera, and online stuff when it decides to work for that. so i can't tell you that 4.7 is any better than 4.2, just looks like a different graphic interface. did upgrade the phone itself to a higher version, maybe 4.5, and it now takes video in addition to still photos, and can stream video too, which is nice.
thanx for the input, might try 4.2 again,
gm
