What if you wait until after the 30 days then cancel. Can VZW charge anything other than the etf of $179?
I purchased a Curve in May. Canceled my VZW account in September and sold it on ebay for $300+. Paid my $175 term fee and went to another carrier. Nothing brought up about retail price of phone.
Thank you. I like the phone too much to return it or sell it. But I need to stay with TMO for UMA. I don't mind paying the $175 buy that's all I want to pay.

Got my storm SIM unlocked yesterday before I left the office. It took about 3 min, and they even walked me through the unlock process.

With the SIM from my T-Mobile Curve/8320, and the Storm forced to GSM. It works fine on T-Mobile for calls, web, sms message, and gtalk.

I haven't tried emails or MMS messages yet.

My MMS is not working (I am on ATT). Email, sms and data all work great.

Only other issue is my VZW #number is displayed at the top of the call screen, what happens when I cancel VZW?

Do you mean if you cancel your VZW account? There's a post on it at the top of this page of the thread, and also discussion about it starts near the bottom of page one.

Is anyone's MMS working with the Storm on Verizon?
If so, I'm wondering whether the SMS bundle I have with the 8830 automatically changes to a comparable MMS bundle when I activate my Storm tomorrow.

I asked this question earlier, does anyone know the answer?
"What if you wait until after the 30 days then cancel. Can VZW charge anything other than the etf of $175?"

They will charge you your month of service and prorate up to the day you canceled.

So basically, $175+One month worth of usage+pro-rated second month. Are you sure that is it? they're not going to try to recoup the cost of the Storm?

Not if you paid full price. If you got a discount I would ask the Vzn person that question before you shut off the line. Obviously what they don't want is for you to get the phone cheap then sell it for whatever it commands on ebay. Most carriers and 3rd parties are pretty careful how they word the contract if you get the phone cheaply.

I can also confirm VZ will unlock your device if you call and ask. Pretty much just play dumb. I just said I had a pre-paid SIM card for when I travel overseas. I told the rep that I tried to put that SIM in and it didn't work. I asked how could I get it to work and the rep immediately said I'll walk you through unlocking it. Took less than 5 mins and now I am using the Storm on ATT with no issues.

I only paid $200 for the phone. I called VZW and they said after the 30 days i would pay the 175+the month i used+pro rated for the time used after the 30 days. If that is the case I am going to keep the phone, forget eBay I like the phone too much.

if you have unlocked your phone and you are having problems with service books and browser. Make sure you restore you service books from a previously saved backup.

What I did is connected to VZW and had the browser service book pushed to the device then sawitched to TMO and started using the browser. If you do not have VZW service I found great instructions on another forum I will send you the link via PM. I am not sure what this forum's policy is on posting links to other forums, better safe than sorry.
