Yes, for the 8130...but I'm not sure about the 8100.

If it can:

Google "pocketstreamer"

MyCast your digital media with Orb 2.0 remote pc access software can provide radio streams.

SomaFM: Commercial-Free, Independent Internet Radio

MFRadio OTA:
http://download5.getjar.com/download...adio-0.9.1.jad

dollars5 Media Player has a radio capability: Dollars 5 Complete » mediaPlayer for Blackberry 8800, 8300 and 8100

That should get you started.

Can it tune actual FM stations. My gym has Tv's in the cardio room and each one broadcasts over a different FM frequency?

the device doesnt have a built in FM tuner. you would have to listen to a station over the web, not broadcast in AM/FM frequencies like some nokias/Sonys can do

For 8100 BB or Pearls, the out-of-box media player does support several kinds of audio streaming/MIME types.

For example, SOMAFM works perfectly on my BB 8100 pearl with T-mobile. I'm running the latest 4.5.0.102 device OS though.

Will try MFRadio too and update you guys.

Installed MFRadio, however could not play any radio stations.

Either "could not connect" or " Error 404". However from GetJar: Free Java, Symbian, Windows Mobile, BlackBerry, Palm and Flash Lite mobile games and applications, it seems that people were able to get it working on BB 8100 pearl.

MFRadio was a bust for me as well.

If you want a really good internet radio/podcast streamer, try BerryTunes. Also plays MP3s, but it's strength is radio/podcasts...connects and doesn't hiccup/break up like others I've tried, both web-based and BB clients.

OTA: BerryTunes 2.5

They have a week or so trial, I believe.

Thank you, Redflea!
It looks nice, a list of radio stations. Even classical ones
However not sure if I would like to pay $25 for it.

I think you guys are missing the point of the question, which was that the OP wanted to tune into an actual FM radio frequency broadcast at the gym to hear the TV audio.

Answer: NO! You need a hardware FM tuner.

We're not talking to the OP...he's long gone. Note that this thread is about 10 months old, and was brought back from the dead.

The current question from undemi is about streaming internet radio.

You can find a coupon here for 20% or more off...I've used these for Handango purchases.

Two free alternatives:

Check out Nobex Radio Companion - Helps You Keep Your Music Collection Fresh! - 100+ playable stations plus what's-playing info on 2700+

And FlyCast - Now your smartphone is complete has 1000+ streaming channels - not sure where they are with radio station streams, but I saw a press release this week that says they're ready to set stations up

Flycast doesn't support the Pearl...I tried it anyway and it was a no-go, wouldn't play properly, buffer, buffer, buffer, then play a few seconds, then buffer, buffer, buffer...

Never tried Nobex...it's free now to stream radio (they say they have 100 stations preset) but it will require a monthly $$ subscription cost for radio in the future. Also doesn't support any stations outside the US.

Weird...Moodio would never work reliably for me.

The other thing I didn't like was not being able to use my browser for other things while listening to radio stations....

I actually have both Moodio & Nobex, but Moodio is my preference. It's been the most reliable for me compared to the other choices. Nobex has been pretty good as well, but the available stations are not choice, and the ones that are I can get on Moodio. I just like it because I can see the album cover of the song playing, and can buy it through my iTunes at the click of a button.
It is also best for me that I can't listen to the music while I'm doing other things because it's easy for me to get lost in music. It's been my drug of choice for most of my life.
