Never had this come up with my 8300 or 8310, but occasionally, when I have my 8330 (VZW 4.5) set up to vibrate, or vibrate and ring, I get complaints about a buzzing noise immediate after i pick up and before I say hello. I have tested it myself and sometimes hear the handset's vibrating buzz when calling from a landline.

Anyone else encountered this?

I experienced this once and only once when I called my GF who uses a 8320. Never heard that again when I call her.

It's a know issue with the 4.5 operating system that has yet to be resolved in any of the working betas. The board is full of stuff on this (search for "speaker blast"). Basically, the problem is that with 4.5 the speaker phone is activated for a couple of seconds when you answer a call, thus the caller hearing your phone vibrate or the noise around you.

Hopefully this will be addressed soon in one of the new releases.

Thanks corybarwick. That's exactly what I noticed (speaker phone on for a second). It all started after the upgrade to 4.5.

If you want to be brave, you can monitor this in the Beta You Than Me forum of this board. Although we are not allowed to post links to beta software, people are pretty open to letting you know when a new beta has been found . It's such a big issue and there is a lot of chatter about a fix in the next beta (should be .101 or .102). Plus, there is starting to be some chatter about a possible 4.6 release for the Curve as well, but we will see.
