Unhappy AT&T Bold REALLY HOT!

Please Login to Remove!

So..I bought a BOLD after destroying my curve and have loved it so far aside from one thing....I am on BES and am constantly sending e-mails, texting, and using the phone...go figure!

After texting and sending e-mails all day, the phone can get hot to the point where typing becomes a literal PAIN. The AT&T person said it's not a defect, so I am wondering if anyone else is having this problem.

The same thing happens when on the phone for a while....

Wirelessly posted (Curve 8310)

That happens to my Curve when I use Telenav GPS but not hot enough to actually hurt my fingers.

@OP: Which OS version are you running? I noticed my phone would get fairly warm under heavy use while on .185 and .190. However, on .210 I have noticed less heat even during heavy use.

Send that bad boy back, or bring it back to the store you got it from if your under the 30 day return policy. My phone is never ever hot, or warm for that fact.

I've had my bold for about 10 days and it is working perfectly. However, this morning it was showing a full charge and connected to my wifi. Got about 14 emails via Yahoo and used the web interface to manage them so I didn't really touch the bold.

It was sitting on my coffee table and when I picked it up it was somewhat warm..... first time this ever happened. Then I noticed the battery indicator showed almost empty. I did a battery pull and got back to 35%.

Don't know what could have caused this to happen unless it was constantly wifi searching, but the wifi icon was white and I had the 3G w/berries signal.

Interesting...... have to keep my eye on it.

Abnormal heat and battery drain can be due to the battery connection. Try cleaning the battery contacts on both the device and the battery itself. If this doesn't resolve the issue, then yes, exchaging the device wthin your carrier's return/exchange policy is the next step.

upgraded to .190 and took out the battery and put it back in and it has not gotten warm or anywhere near as hot unless I am on the phone for about an hour or so. I can live with that....
