Default 8350i delivered "cold"?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey this may sound stupid, but i have to ask it. I bought an 8350i off ebay from a trusted seller. I called sprint and wanted them to switch the service to the blackberry. The tech-support stated that she could not do anything about it until tomorrow because the phone was still cold. I asked her what was cold and she again stated that the 8350i's are shipped cold because if they were intercepted durring shipping by someone that was not suposed to get them, then they could not use the phone. Has anyone heard of this kind of thing. I know mine is not stolen, but she said to call back tomorrow and then the phone could be activated.

Some one if you could give me some details on this, i would appreciate it. thanks

Welcometo the forums!

This is not uncommon with CDMA carriers such as Sprint, because they do not require a SIM card to be activated. It is a security measure during shipment.

Don't make any assumptions about your seller until you have called Sprint back. It may simply mean that they haven't heated the device yet.

That doesn't make since due to the fact the 8350i is for use on the iDEN network which still uses SIM cards.

Sometimes when you deactivate a serial number or cancel a line it takes up to 24-48 hours for the serial number to show that its not attached to an account anymore. So, if the person you bought it from just deactivated it then its probably not completed in the system as being cleared yet.
