Angry 8100 not detected by Desktop Manager

Please Login to Remove!

Hello

I want to update my Pearl 8100 to the latest OS, but no matter what i do even if the blackberry is listed in the device manager, and i can access the memory card as a removable device in "my computer", desktop manager refuses to recognize the my blackberry is connected .

Using a regular USB cable for connection, Desktop Manager v4.6 and Pearl 8100 from Vodafone Portugal using OS 4.2.0.67, is there any configuration to be done in the BB itself for it to be recognized ??

Try a different USB port and make sure you're not connecting through a hub.

On the Desktop Manager, find the connection options and make sure it's set to USB.

This is happening with my curve as well. It happened once before, but rebooting by computer mysteriously fixed it. Not this time. I've tried every USB port. My device driver manager recognizes that the blackberry is there but the desktop manager says disconnected. When I plug the blackberry into the computer it makes the beeping noise like it's connecting, but desktop manager doesn't recognize it. I've rebooted both computer and the blackberry several times. I noticed that I'm running older versions of both the desktop manager and handheld software. Didn't realize there were updates. I'm afraid to download them, however, if I can't connect my blackberry to get the updates. Suggestions?

Hi,

First you can check if USB driver is installed or not.
Just see if your phone battery gets charged while connecting to USB port.
If yes then see if there is any message which asks for mass storage support, select "No".
Even if it doesnt work, in desktop manager go to 'Application loader' and click on start.
Continue in that way if you get success.

Thanks,
Piyush

Thumbs up Battery cycle fixed problem for me

After trying various suggestions of changing port speeds, to turning off antivirus software, to turning off power management, upgrading DM to 4.6...I finally used a suggestion I saw somewhere to take the battery out of my BB for a few minutes, then replace it. It worked! As soon as I plugged the BB into the computer DM connected to it and saw it. I had to reconfigure my synchronization but I'm back up and running...for now. We'll see if it drops again. If so, not sure what is causing it. But I'm good for now. So if you haven't tried taking the battery out of your BB, leave it out for a few minutes, then return it....try it.

Angry

the same thing is happening to me.

i dont understand it.

Here is the situation:
-The DM will not detect my connected 8100
-The 8100 is charging
-I obtained a brand new cable
-All USB ports are working (checked an iPod, a mouse, etc)
-I have wiped the phone
-I installed and reinstalled: DM 4.2, 4.2 SP2, and 4.7
-In my device manager, the device is an "Unknown Device"
-In Connection Settings, when I click USB > Detect, a window comes up "Device not found"
-Updating the driver does nothing because the device isnt even recognized as a BB in the first place. (The computer is updating a driver for the "Unknown Device")
-Spent too long searching for JUST the 8100 driver, apparently does not exist
-When I plug it in, all that happens is it begins charging and bow opens in the bottom right telling me an Unknown Device has connected, etc. Clicking that opens another box that allows me to open device details. Here I COULD manually identify a driver... if BB made the driver available on its own.

FML. I can't figure it out. My shoulders are sore from the stress and I may just go play hours of GTA 4 to release.
