Default Is there a "CMOS" Battery in an 8820?

Please Login to Remove!

I recently acquired a second hand BB 8820 from an IT exec who felt sorry for me getting my 8310 stolen twice in one week.

Phone works very similar to my Curve, and generally I'm happy with it. She even gave me three batteries to go along with it. After charging one battery up and setting my preferences, email accounts, address book, etc., I took that battery out and tried to charge up the other two batteries. They didn't work. When I went to put the good battery back in, ALL my settings reverted to the default.

Ugh. I can't afford to lose my info every time I need to take the battery out. Could this just be an internal battery that needs charging? Is that internal battery replacable?

Thanks,
Jim

That is not a normal expectation. I don't know of any motherboard battery but I've never experienced data loss when removing the battery.

Didn't think it was too normal. Weird observation just now. I get my yahoo! email but I don't have the Yahoo! logo. . . Not too weird, I guess, since the email server isn't on the handheld, but weird none-the-less...

Never heard of this but if its any consolation some settings are defaulted when power is lost and some are kept in memory, I believe the flash memory.

Maybe the onboard flash memory needs some charge. No telling how long this phone was out of service.

Just FYI, I uninstalled some resident non-registered apps that were included from its BES days, ie: eOffice, eWorks, etc. Works fine now.

Hope this may help someone else sometime.
