Default Upgrading Bloomberg on BES

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys -

Just having an issue here upgrading the bloomberg application on a user's handheld. When he goes to get the latest update, it says it's restricted by the IT policy and modules on the device cannot be deleted. However the IT policy that's assigned to him is a 'No Restrictions' policy meaning everything is set to default etc. I'm wondering if there is a setting that I must change in the policy to allow the deletion of the module. I went through each and every setting and I couldn't see anything that would change this. Assistance is appreciate. Thanks much.

Regards,
Nick

Oh and here is the exact message: "Update Failed: Unable to install modules. Failed to create com_bloomberg_alrt module" -

Also if I go to Options > Advanced > Applications and try to delete the application manually it says "Unable to remove Bloomberg. It is required by IT policy application control"

hmm fyi - If you remove the assigned software configuration and set it to none. You then can delete the applications manually which is what I'm doing now. If anyone knows anything else about this issue. Thanks much.

Bloomberg for BlackBerry is a pain. Software Configurations do not work well since Bloomberg updates the app every month and the user receives the note to upgrade. The have x number of opportunities to upgrade the app. If they don't then the app is disabled. Your best bet is to leave the appropriate IT Policy in place and do not assign a Software Configuration. This allows them to upgrade without issue...until they are out of memory due to the older BFB apps not being deleted.

I have Bloomberg here and yes it is a pain, they (Bloomberg) has come out with a devce gateway so we no longer have to have a server in the DMZ available for that service. As well, i have setup an IT Policy for Bloomberg users specifically that allows them to download.

Sounds like the app control policy you have assigned to Bloomberg in the Software Config has a disposition or required. Reset this to Optional so that users can still install it but can also uninstall / upgrade when needed.
