Hi everyone

Newbie here with a query - I have a 8820 with a UK Orange 2G sim card. My boyfriend gave me his new Blackberry Bold but the 2G sim card is not compatible with it and Orange won't upgrade your sim card unless the phone is yours and linked to your account. As I still have 12 months left on the contract, I am thinking of choosing the 8900 as it still has a camera which my 8820 does not.

As the 8900 has no 3G does anyone know if my 2G sim card will be compatible with it?

it should has it's a normal 2G phone, but UK providers have very strict policies about sim card and locked phones. I remember having to change SIM card each time I changed phone (I hated every second of my ORANGE experience).

My suggestion is either to pretend you have lost your SIM/phone and ask for a 3G SIM replacement (they'll give you the old number) if you want to keep the BOLD or test your SIM in one 8900 before getting it.
