hi,
long time bb user, i really could not use anything else!
BUT..
the storm i have to say is truly woeful..
the touch screen serves no purpose except to offer a barrier to the operation of the normally excellent blackberry interface..
back to my beloved bold asap!
yuk!

Feelings are mixed among users. Like anything else, technology will improve. I know my wife is moving to Storm as soon as she's eligible

If it was not for my BES server this thing would be in the garbage, I love the big screen and the exterior is beyond beautiful. The big problem is nothing is easy or intitve to use, answering a call is a PIA, making a call is a PIA, speed dials are no longer fast and I loose 16 of them. My 6 year old daugher can use my wifes iPhone all day long and it is EASY, not the case with the storm.
It is a crying shame that every Storm users is waiting for the next ugprade, but when it comes it will be far less than perfect.

I personally think it is a terrible BB, but I have co-workers who like it. Most of them don't send a lot of e-mails. I find it unstable, difficult to type on, and incompatible with some existing applications.
I'll stick with the Bold (and upcoming Javelin).

Ya know the more I think about it, Apple has one phone to make perfect and I think they did a great job, RIM is dealing with 16 +/- phones

What's your point? RIM released a BB which many people don't like. I don't like the iPhone either!

To many pokers in the fire and non of them are HOT.
And I would switch to a Bold if VZW had it, as my 8830 looks like an antique next to the current series. Don't get me wrong, I like BES, I Like RIM and I truly get the concept of a Blackberry and corporate email but when everybody is checking this site 2x a day for an ugprade something is wrong.

I dont check this site 2 times a day for an upgrade.. The issues will be fixed... When the trackball versions 1st came out people hated them, now they are standard... People will hate the Storm, as it is not for everyone... I am not a heavy email user, but I can see where someone who is, would hate the Storm, as it is a bit different to type on...

I love my storm too! The only problem that ive had is the dust under the screen!! I hate that... but ive learned to ignore it and get over it. Other than that it just takes some time getting used to and stuff.
Ohh and updates take forever to come out officially!!

Acole
I see the devices are a variety from different carriers. I praise Apple for their efforts. I don't like the iphone because of the keyboard and certain lack of flexibility issues. Which may be consistent with other users. In case you want to attack me to, I post less than 5 times a day. You can click our profiles to see.

People come on this site for other things, not to just ask for answers, I think they also come on here to help other people with problems.

I like the Storm. It took a bit of adjusting to the virtual keyboard. The one thing I did initially was to remove the screen protector that is shipped on the Storm. I believe my keyboard got more responsive once that was done. I wonder if you might have a Storm with a screen click problem. I had a bad replacement that needed some support in the middle of the device behind the battery door. This resolved the click action to what I believe it should be. Although I am not a heavy email sender, I am not a light weight either. I am BES activated. I think in the end why I like the Storm so much is the huge screen.
As many others have posted already, the Storm is not for everyone. I do think with software revisions the Storm will improve. Nothing is ever perfect, there is always room for improvement.

I think one of the major things to remember with technology like the storm or iphone is that these phones are finite - yet with software updates the possibilities are endless. Battery/power controls - memory management - features ect can all be updated via software.
as per the screen it self - it just takes getting use to. I moved from a pearl to the storm - the suretype screen which i personally love! took about 1 week to learn. Now i am typing at about 85% -90% at which i was typing on my pearl. And i could type quite quickly.
To each their own. I wish it had a scroll ball tho.

I'm sticking with my Storm, because currently I don't have a choice. Dear RIM, could you please push out a stable OS for your device? Like relatively soon?
kthxbye

I like my storm because it's fun to use.
The touchscreen is great because not only can I use the full ability of the screen to watch a movie, I can also text in the same space.

I've noticed a trend amongst BB users. Those who have owned previous models tend to be more critical of the Storm. As a first time BB user on the Storm, I am absolutely thrilled. However my love of the phone stems from the fundamental aspects inherent in ALL Blackberries.
I love the email access, calendar, instant messenging, Facebook connectivity, and landscaped qwerty keyboard. In the prism of my cellular phone experience, my Storm is the best model so far. I also agree with Moviemogul, the Storm is quite fun to operate too!
I am equally critical in that I believe the Storm was released too early. OS .65 was a nightmare. Although .75 was a breath of fresh air, Blackberry better make a giant leap with its official release of .85.
Once the touch screen glitches are corrected and the abysmal camera program is upgraded to function at an acceptable level, I think the Storm will be a triumphant incursion into the touchscreen world by Blackberry.
The Storm is everything I wanted in a cellular phone. All Blackberry has to do to thrill me is to make it function optimally.
