I have a problem with attachments on a STORM. It looks like it's server related. Thanks to downsizing, though, we lost the guy who took care of that server and they looked my way to take over. I am very inexperienced to say the least.

Anyway here is the problem reported to me verbatim by the user:

When I take a picture and attach it to an email through BES, I get the error "Email service does not support these types of attachments. Change the Send Using field or remove the attachments." Works fine if I select my gmail account tho... very weird.

Any ideas of where I can start to troubleshoot this for them? I am not sure what the STORM may use as its picture format (eg. JPG, GIF, PNG, ect.). Could it be that our version of the BES doesn't support the format of the picture?

BES Server is 4.0.7.8.

No idea how to check policies. Is there any documentation you can point me towards?

I would look into upgrading to at least 4.1. The newest version that I'm aware of is 4.1.6. Unless I'm mistaken, 4.1 added support for more types of attachments.

As corruptblitz stated, it is your Version of BES that is the issue regarding attachments. You would need to upgrade the server to Version 4.1 to get this functionality. RIM has plenty of documentation that would help you to upgrade a BES server but it is no walk in the park either. If you are an I.T. person, it may not be that big of a deal for you to tackle.

If it doesn't work after you started composing your email and then attached the pic file, there is an issue with the attachment service on your BES.

We have the following problem with the BOLD. If a user has a personal email account on their BB, it defaults to that account to send the pic. This only happens when the user is sending the pic when it is open and chooses "send as email" from the picture menu and they have a personal email account setup on it.

When sending a pic,try doing it when composing an email and attach the pic. This is our work around for know. Probably a BES issue don't know yet.
