Are the OOC contract prices generally the same as a new line of service? My contract is up, so I am not legally tied to TMO (though I have a family plan, so I won't be switching). Wonder if I will have to change my number to get a good deal or if simply renewing for 2 years gets me the same price?

Probably the same price, but that trick won't work. You'll need to be away from TMO for six months.

What is the purpose of this "bulletin"? What is in in reference to? Have an experience you're willing to share?

According to Corp Sales Rep, they can start processing orders for the 8900 by Jan. 19 and Inventory at the Fulfillment Center should be in by Jan. 26. BBs will be shipped as they become available at Fulfillment Center on First-Come-First-Serve basis. . . I don't think there's no general Online ordering by Jan. 19...orders will have to be processed through Biz Sales Channel and only for new lines of service...Upgrades and OOC sales will not be entertained at that time.

CS people cater to general consumer and small business customers. Corp Biz Sales reps are better in the know of their Biz programs.... so it makes sense that CS are clueless at this time.

I forgot to mention in my previous post that I was also out of contract for at least a year when I took that price, possibly two.

No specific pricing yet at this time...hopefully they'll be out by tomorrow. One thing odd about a Jan. 19 pre-release date is that it's a Federal Holiday . . . would business people actually take time out of their day off to put in an order?

I don't get the day off - but YES! I would take time off to order if I could get it in my hands a week or more early.

are you good at poker? . . . if you can hold a story, you may be able to get a great deal from TMO Retention dept... when the 8900 becomes available (and not any earlier) call CS and ask them what it takes to port-out your number, that your considering switching over to AT&T for their BB Bold. I guarantee you that you'll be put on hold and get transferred to a "specialist who can help you with your request". That specialist is their Retention dept... people who sweet talk you into staying. This is when you tell them that you really like the new BB Bold and that it's 3G and everything . . . most likely, they will bring up the new BB 8900, etc. . . it's now all up to you to make the deal. . . and make sure you ask for a 1 year contract extension only. . . Good Luck.

I been with Tmo for 3 years and havent upgrade (officially) in 2 years so I qualify for the "full upgrade discount" which the rep told me I would be paying whatever you see the phone set at once it appears on the website. I am seriously hoping for $150-200. Thank god for income taxes....

...just to let you know that most of the time (especially with high end devices) Upgrade prices hardly beat New line activation prices.... You can try the upgrade pricing request, but your best bet is go through the Retention dept. . . BTW, when you call CS for upgrade pricing, they do make note of that request on your account, and everyone accessing your account, including Retention, will see your interest on that particular device... that may become a negative on your part if you play the "port-my-number" card.

That is a very interesting suggestion that you made. I've said many times that Tmob, et. al, will give a better deal to a new customer than an old one, but not in front of people (such as at a store), only in private (be that through a 3rd party retailer like Amazon, or over the phone with the retention dept.). There were ATT folks that posted they got way lower prices for the new Bold than $299, and were not due for an upgrade either, they just talked to the right person on the phone. I am due for an upgrade with tmob and I do want the 8900 but I think I'll take this approach. After all I got my Pearl free via Amazon in fall 06 when old customers were plunking down two bills for it. And I almost did go for the Bold when it came out too, just couldn't pull the trigger on ATTs coverage around here.

Yeah, that's so your 24 month contract won't expire before you can renew for another 24 months with another carrier and avoid the $200 penalty for early termination. The carrier likes to keep you in their fold.

I just discovered that factoid too myself yesterday.
Anxious for the 8900 as my 8800 is well-worn.
