Thumbs down VZ Navigator Question

Please Login to Remove!

I was just wondering if it is worth paying the $10/monthly fee to have VZ Navigator feature on the Storm? I occasionally use it and like the voice turn by turn feature, but saving $10/month can go a long way and probably better use in this economy.

Any insight is much appreciated.

I really like it, I had it on my old Motorola phone and now on the Storm. It is great when I go out of town for finding places to eat, drink etc and also just for getting around. It now has built in traffic alerts and movie times.

What I like best about it is if/when you find whatever you are searching for (hotel, restaurant, golf club), it offers you the option to call that place.... so it is basically like having 411.

Ask any general questions and I would be happy to answer.

I'm a fan of VZNavigator. Telenav's product is a little better but for billing simplicity, I stick with VZN. If you travel frequently then it's worth the $10. You can always add it before you leave on a trip. With VZN, Beyond411, and BBMaps I'm all set when I go on the road.

I know my way around the city pretty well, but tomorrow we are taking a 4 hour trip to the northern mountains of PA, and am going to put it to the test. I know the way there too, but anxious to see where it takes us. I have used the local search features more than anything.

I've been balking at the VZ Navigator service for the longest time but I'm beginning to weaken. I have a standalone Garmin unit I got for Xmas 2 years ago but it is way behind on map updates and I think the updates cost around $80.00. Plus with the whole theft phenomenon with people leaving them on the dash, mine is stashed away and then I never use it. I'm beginning to consider the VZ Nav service although I'm still a sore 8830 owner who knew the phone was equipped with GPS from RIM and then Verizon locked out the feature.

Any here make the change from a standalone GPS unit to the VZ Nav service? Does VZ Nav on the Storm take advantage of the touch screen?

The VZ Nav. is awesome. The cool thing about this application is the fact that you do not have to update streets. It does it automatically. I have heard with the dash board Navs. you have to buy an updated version every year in order to keep up with things. In my opinion, definately worth the $10 bucks.
