This is my first post and want to say hello to everyone

OK, yesterday I upgraded by BB 8703 from the old OS (don't remember what it was) to the latest(v4.2.1.110)Platform 2.3.0.2.4. I downloaded the 4.2.1 and everything went smooth until...

OK, my problem is that when i receive a email, the ringer just keeps ringing and ringing, i have to press the power button on the top of the phone to silent it.

Now before I did the upgrade, as soon as I would receive a email (and my phone was in the holster) I would grab the phone from the holster and the ringer would stop, now if i have it on the holster OR off the holster it keeps ringing until i press the power button.

I would like to set up the phone to where if it rings, and it is on or off the holster, with just moving the slider, it will turn acknowledge that i want to silent the ringer. My current set up is vibrate 3 time the the song...

Choose mute.

From there, you can adjust other items.

But i want to hear the ring tone also. I want the setup to be vibrate 3 times, then do into the ring tone.

if i do that, it will mute the ring tone.

Yes, well not for 30 seconds. When i receive a email, it vibrate 3 times then the ring tone kicks in for about 8-10 seconds.

Before i did the update it would vibrate 3 times and the the ring tone would kick in, but as soon as i would take it of from the holster it would stop ringing.

Right know if i get a email it vibrates 3 times, then it goes to the ringer for 8-10 seconds, what i need it to do is for it to stop ringing once i get the phone out of the holster.

I just got a text message from a friend and as soon as i took it of my holster it stopped ringing,that is what i need it to do. I have checked the setting on the SMS text and the messages, and they are same.

Also before if i would receive a email/text and the phone was locked, i would be able to just use the side scroll wheel and press on the wheel to unlock and the phone would unlock. Now it tells me keypad is locked must press * and phone to unlock.

In your profile, you should check the setting for "Out of holster" and "In holster". The phone behaves differently when it is in or out of holster.

I just want to post that i have found the problem. It was the cold play ring tone that was wrong for some odd reason. I have a different ring tone now...
