Default Bricked??

Please Login to Remove!

Well I looked around for a little bit trying to see if anyone else had the same problem but I have a 8320 (I think, may be a 8310...) And out of the blue, the keyboard/pearl wont respond. The screen just goes dark and regardless of me plugging it in or pulling the B+ and resetting it that way. The same thing happens, the screen lights up and then dims after 2 secs. And again the keyboard/pearl is unresponsive.

I would hate to have to completely kill the thing, Ive got work email and very personal messages on the phone that I would like to keep.

Anyone? Thanks.

Sounds like moisture damage to me.

It hasnt gotten wet. The white square is still white and Im pretty careful to keep it from getting wet. The funny thing is another BB in the house had coffee poured on it... But this one was in a whole different room.

Thanks for the help though.

Oh and one other thing (if it matters) the Red LED is flashing with a full battery.

It can still be moisture damage, regardless. Don't discount it and lose the entire device.

Even in a bathroom during a steamy shower, the keyboard and/or trackball are sensitive enough to fail. I have seen it. And the white moisture sticker will remain white.

So... neverthemess.... after the screen dims, and all keys are unresponsive, can you press a side convenience key to revive it? Anything?

Nope, no keys will work, not even the mute on top.

Is it continually rebooting, as in looks like it's turning on, then goes dark, then turns on again?

Nope, its just waiting on me to enter a PIN. If I plug it in for a second, the screen will light up and the prompt for the PIN entry is visible. This and when the backlight is off that the keys are a no-go. Now, Im pretty sure its not frozen because the indicator for charging will change.

I don't quite understand what you're describing but it does sound symptomatic of water damage. Doesn't mean it was water damaged but sounds like a hardware problem.

Can you back the phone up from a PC? Does it respond to that?
