Default Applets disappearing

Please Login to Remove!

We just received 5 new 8900's from Tmo earlier this week. I upgraded them all to .168 and all of them are running great, except for mine.

I've had issues with some of the applets just disappearing completely. The biggest issue is that it's things like the Call Log and Messages. The Call Log, I can generally still get to by simply hitting the Send key, but when the Messages applet disappears, I don't seem to have any way to get to my messages. I still receive the messages, I get new message indicators, but can't get to the messages themselves.

Up until today, I was able to jockey the themes around and pull the battery and my missing apps would come back. Today I couldn't get them back for anything. I eventually gave up and re-flashed the .168 on and I'm currently not running any third party apps to see if that helps.

Anyone seen anything like this at all before or have any ideas what might be up?

Edit:
Oh, and the missing applets aren't just hidden. Show All is turned on and they are still nowhere to be found.

I had the same issue with 152.

For me the problem was with some downloaded Themes which worked fine until the first reboot. Then I got a white T-Mobile screen (got rid of it by switching off the phone and interrupting shutdown) and a lot of icons are gone.
I ran App Loader with the same OS and switched back to the out of the box Theme. Have had no problems since.

Issues will come back though as soon as I switch to another theme and reboot

Angry Experienced similar problem

I experienced the same problem after upgrading to .168.

To get to your messages you can either send an dummy SMS message and after sending, you should end up in your messages screen. Until the problem is fixed I set my sMS and email to appear in the same screen.m another way to address the issues is to set up a convenience key to Application Switcher, the message window should appear there...

I ended up downgrading to .152. However after an app install, I noticed the same problem when rebooting (tmobile white screen) but after hitting the power button and a soft boot, the problem went away.

Hope they fix this bug soon...

That's exactly the same issue I am seeing.

So it sounds like sticking to OEM themes is a work around for now?

You are right.. 3rd party theme are not fully mature now.. I had installed QuickPull and it used to give me NullPointerException every now and then. Once I uninstalled the 3rd party theme.. everything is normal.

The theme issue might be due to the beta theme builder for the 8900 and Storm, I have seen this and uninstalling the theme and then re-installing it fixed the issue. It seems to be random as well and not always after a reboot. Really odd...hopefully the official theme builder comes out soon and the issues are resolved
