You should consider what features you need..

The 7130e offers speakerphone and suretype.. whereas the 7250 offers the qwery keyboard (which I prefer).. There's also speculation that the 8700 will arrive on verizon's network in 6 months.. (which would offer qwerty and speakerphone)..

Both are EVDO capable, and the 7250 is rumored to have the 4.1 OS available to it in January.

The general guideline is:

More phone than email, go 7100 series. More email than phone, go 7200 series...

I just went with a 7130 and have a 1 month old 7250 that I will be selling on EBay. I wanted the new version. 7250 is easier for typing -by far.
