Exclamation Device software update 4.5 error

Please Login to Remove!

Today I tried to update my Pearl (8110) to version 4.5 and it was proceeding fine when it suddenly reported an error and stopped. The Pearl now only has a blank screen and slowly blinking red LED. I have removed the battery in an effort to reset it. Didn't work. When I plug the phone into my PC (USB) I hear the Windows tone, signalling that it has detected a device being plugged in. After a few seconds I hear the tone again and again. This repeats forever. I was told that there is some downloadable software that can really reset the phone so I can try to reinstall the update or perhaps my original OS. Can anyone help please?
