From what I've learned while using my new Pearl Flip is that outside of calls, three of the side buttons are used solely for the media player. But I'm perfectly happy with my iPod as a portable media player. What I really want to do is change what the side-buttons do so that the play/pause button changes the profile of the phone (like from Normal to Vibrate) and the volume buttons change the ringer volume. Is that at all possible with my phone?

You can change the convenience key open profiles, not change them. Go to Options > Screen/Keyboard and set the convenience keys to how what you would like.

Also, you cannot use the volume keys as the ringer volume. That setting is controlled by the profile.

I guess that's better for now. It's a shame they didn't add more options for the buttons.
