Default Standby / Lock ???

Please Login to Remove!

Whats the difference between standby mode, and locking the keyboard?
Dont they both make sure keys arent pressed by mistake?
I dont understand the difference between the two or why you'd use one rather than the other.

Standby mode not only prevents the screen from turning on if a key is pressed which therefore helps save battery power, but it also prevents accidental keystrokes. Locking the keyboard provides the locking keystrokes aspect, but the screen can still turn on when the keys are pressed.

Lock mode prevents anyone entering your blackberry without your permission, only if you have a password on it. you can set how many tries you get to guess the password, but once the limit is reached the blackberry wipes itself so be aware

That's correct if you have the password set. Otherwise, if you simply lock the phone via the keyboard lock icon frequently found on the screen, you will have to enter the key combination displayed on the screen to unlock the keyboard.

Also, if a key is pressed in standby mode, the menu doesn't pop up giving the option to "Unlock", "Emergency Call" or "Cancel." I've actually pocket dialed an emergency call in the past
