Do you have the "Home Page (BlackBerry Bookmarks) in your browser? If so, go to that page, then "Entertainment", "Videos", then "YouTube". I've watched only a handful of youtube vids, but they all played perfectly.

Be aware the videos suck your data.

Oh, I just noticed you have a 9500. Not sure if what I typed will help.

Yeah, I am having an error as well:

"There was a problem establishing a connection. (java.lang.IllegalArgumentException:expecting small float)

Its odd cause this only started after I loaded .132. I am pretty bummed too cause the YouTube app was so smooth when it worked correctly.

If you're blackberry browser is set to appear as Internet Explorer or Firefox, it won't work...it will try to download java.
Set it to blackberry, and you should be good to go.

I was never able to view a video of youtube on my storm. There was a time when I could search and the results will appear perfectly, but now not even results are accessible.

hi blackberrymate,

i've the same issue since I've installed a third part application not supported for Storm. Did you install another application while updating youtube client version ?
It's seem like a problem of jvm version.

I too loaded .132 and am getting the same "...small float..." error message.
I have deleted the Youtube app, pulled battery, reinstalled. Same issue. I checked my browser emulation settings; all set to "Blackberry Browser".

Any ideas?

thanks
p.s. "search" got me here.

Was having the same issue on .122 this AM. Loaded up .132 and the problem was still there. Just uninstalled, rebooted the reinstalled... rebooting now & keeping my fingers crossed.

Edit: Still getting the same error. I was actually able to login to my youtube account with the app, but searches either hang or get the java error referenced above.

Edit2: Might be an issue with the app... I can actually view videos in my account - I just can't search

Well, I just did a google search on "java.lang.IllegalArgumentException:expecting small float". The results displayed many, many folks having issues; seemingly regardless of their STORM o.s. Some further digging suggests that the problem may reside on the YouTube end (per blackberry support forum, crackberry forum, help.youtube, etc). Some have suggested it is a problem with (Youtube) version 1.6.10.
In the meantime, if you are desperately seeking youtube (which I am not), access it via your browser; m.youtube.com

Thoughts?

So I'm not the only one...after installing .132 on my phone I get the same error...
I did find this over at crackberry though Xenozu Youtube App Launches Via App World | CrackBerry.com but I'm not too sure if it's any good since I haven't found it in the AppWorld to use it...

Well I am "glad" to hear others are having similar issues. Makes me believe it is a YouTube issue, as mentioned above. One other thing I have found, this issue seems to be somewhat intermittent. If I try the same link several times, sometimes it will actually work.

I dont mind going to YouTube through the browser, but the app was smooth when it worked correctly.

Odd... It began working again last night... and (dare I mention it??) it is working just fine today. I made no changes to my OS, did not add any new 3rd party apps... (well.. that is a lie.. I DID add a free game I found... called "lights out" ).

Go figure. Maybe it WAS on YouTube's end.
