I got my #2 Blackberry from newegg.com. It is unlocked, but has T-mobile logo on the case. Yesterday I went to ATT store to get a BB plan, but the sales assistant told me that PIN has to be released. The phone is brand new and I am the first and only user. So what can I do to get BB services?? Do I have to contact T-mobile or RIM?

You will need to call Tmoble or whoever had the device first registered on the network to please remove the PIN from that carrier network.
I imagine you actually purchased a remanufactured device, as newegg is not a new device retailer for RIM BlackBerrys, only the carriers are.

If you have a second BB put your sim in your new BB wait until you have GPRS or EDGE then goto email settings, log in your account, when the system ask for change device click on accept, that's all
Put your sim in your old BB and repeat the process...
Now you can go to t-mo, your new pin is released

Here is how I understand the procedure given by HalconNocturno. At least it is what makes sense to me:
Your blackberry is blackberry A still registered with the previous owner's BIS account. Another GSM blackberry, say a friend's, is blackberry B, and your friend (or whoever it is) is subscribed to a BIS plan. Sounds like it doesn't matter whether blackberry B is on the same carrier as A, or not.
You take the SIM from B and put it in A. In other words, take the SIM from the friend's blackberry and put it in your blackberry. Then turn on the blackberry and register it on the friend's BIS account. (This, as I understand it, removes your blackberry (A) from the previous owner's BIS account and registers it with your friends BIS account.)
Now you put your friends SIM back in your friend's blackberry (B), turn it on, and register it with your friend's BIS service. This (as I understand it) in turn removes your blackberry (A) from you friend's BIS service and your blackberry is therefore not registered with any BIS service.
So, you put your SIM in your blackberry (A), turn it on, and register it with your BIS account.
If I explained it right, and if I understand it right, the reason it makes sense is it is no different in principle than switching your SIM between your own blackberrys, if you own more than one. When you switch your PIN# on BIS, the other PIN# is free. (I actually did this, in a way, when I loaned my 8700g to a friend. I already had my 8820 on my BIS. I didn't have to do anything as far as my account. He just put his SIM in it a away he went.)
I have even more respect for GSM after thinking about this. It's cool.

Because all my friends and co worker are buying BB and when you buy and unlocked BB you have 95% that the pin is registered in another carrier, I have 2 and the first I've returnered because the pin was registered, but now I know how to solve it

I know it's OT, but I'm wondering if you and your friends have discovered IT policies yet. You will. FYI, if you haven't read up on the topic, do a search and check the FAQ. I think it was John Clark posted a procedure for overwriting with a blank policy.

I'm thinking about this again, and now I don't see why it would work. In the step where you put the borrowed SIM in your BB, it is not different than putting your SIM in your blackberry and trying to register it with your BIS. The problem is still that the pin # is registered with another account.
If you are swapping blackberrys on your BIS account -- say it's the weekend and you are putting you SIM in your weekend blackberry -- the reason you are able to register your weekend blackberry with your BIS is because your weekend pin # is free. Your weekday pin # gets removed from the BIS. Then Sunday night or Monday morning when you put your SIM back in your weekday blackberry, your weekday pin # had been free, so you are able to register it with the BIS and your weekend blackberry gets removed automatically.
I do see where people say this works, but I don't understand why. Using the borrowed SIM to register your blackberry on the friends BIS doesn't strike me as any different than trying to register your blackberry on your BIS with your SIM.

Is simple, a pin is linked to an account and when you swap an account to another pin the other remain in the air until is relinked to other pin
In this moment is when you pin is free and you can register with any other account

Ok, in the first case is the person who has a blackberry that is registered with the previous owner's account. He has purchased a blackberry data plan. That plan has been added to his account. It is associated with his SIM. He puts his SIM in his blackberry. Finds out that he cannot register his blackberry with his BIS because the PIN # is still registered with the previous BIS account.
Now your case. The person takes the borrowed SIM, puts it in his blackberry, and registers it with the friend's BIS account.
How are the two cases different? Why does the operation in the second case cause the pin # to be kicked off the previous owner's BIS account, but it doesn't in the first case. That is what I don't understand.
The two cases to me seem to be the same.

Look this example, both SIM have BB plan and both BB are ok...
Swap one SIM and wait until you have GPRS or EDGE (uppercase) goto xxx.blackberry.com (carrier's BIS portal) log in and go to change device, in this moment you have moved the account to this PIN and the other PIN is without account, is free to register in any other carrier

Having the same exact problem
Halcon Nocturno, I´m suffering the exact problem that started this forum, with the phone i bought "NEW" for my wife through amazon. Her carrier is Movistar.
I´ve already spent 200Bs, here in Valencia to a "BB specialist" and I´ve already talked with the Movistar sevice (411), and they have given me the same answer they gave to Ahurtado; so I´m still swimming here for a solution, if there is any.
I´m seeing the proceadure you´re giving us, And It makes sense, but do I have a risk to lose my BB PIN doing this proceadure? (I have a BB with Digitel Service, prefectly working and bought here in Vzla).
How I´m seeing this, once i´ve logged into digitel.blackberry.com, will the portal automatically ask me if I want to chage the device? do I have to wait for something before returning the SIM to my phone? Once the New Unlocked Phone has been released, do I have to register it throught the same proceadure or rather called Movistar 411?
I´d would wait for your feedback my friend, in order to proceed as soon as possible (cause if I don´t solve this, it could cost me my marriage!!!)
Thanks...

Service provider
Hi Members,
I have BB Bold and my service provider was mobily (saudi arabia) then i unlocked my BB and cancelled their subscription and subscribed with STC (saudi arabia) and my mobile registered to stc and started to recieve mails,my question is when i want to register in stc portal it says the pin is in use and when i tried with mobily site i could access the site with the same password and user name and do any necessary changes like adding or deleting emails.
I called the Mobily CC and asked them to release my pin and the funny part is they are asking what is the pin and they are not aware of BB at all.
any suggestions please
