I'm new to BB and looking to get a new smartphone. The 8120 might be one if my choices.

My old phone is 7 years old and quite crappy, Never had one but my main reason is getting a new phone that I can connect to different wifi network and go on the internet for free (send and receive e-mail and use google ...). I work with a sport team and need to receive and transmit information by e-mail a lot.

Could I also use SKYPE or any other program to call home ?

So if I understand good this phone can do this and there is no charges from my carrier since I'm connecting to and wifi internet connection?

Yes the 8120 has wifi and you will be able to connect to wifi spots and use internet. You shouldn't be charged. As for Skype I'm not quite sure as I haven't used it with my BlackBerry.

SKYPE for Blackberry is supposed to be release this month, but which model will be initially supported is unknown.

There are a few Skype programs for Blackberry out already , but they do not work with Wifi, and i have tried them all on my 8120.
