Default I bought an unlocked BB8100 on ebay

Please Login to Remove!

I bought an AT&T 8100 on ebay not knowing that I was going to be unable to access the browser, email, ect. AT&T told me to download the device manager and the latest version on the desktop manager, and I did, but I don't know what to do from here.
Do I need to wipe out my BlackBerry to install the new software? When I click the add/remove applications button it says that I have no applications.
Can anyone help me? I'm a newby and I'm not really understanding the process of getting my BlackBerry on to the network.
Thankss!

Step 1: You need a BlackBerry Data Plan on your account. If you don't have one, call AT&T to add one.

I added a plan yesterday, edge is still lowercase and I don't even have a browser icon... It is showing no applications at all.

A BlackBerry Data Plan is different than a data plan.
Call AT&T and make sure it is a BlackBerry Data Plan. The lower case edge is a giveaway.

I asked the person I bought it from if she knew why this was happeneing, and she told me thats the whole point of buying an unlocked phone, and there was noting I could do about it.

I have no idea what the seller was telling you. Neither do they.

Please call AT&T and have them check to make sure that the correct BlackBerry Data Plan was added.

And also have them resend the service books. Then with the device on, pull the battery for about 30 seconds, reinsert and let the device reboot.

And from the FAQ:

Thank you for you help! I will call AT&T tomorrow and talk to technical support and see what they have to say. I'm sure I will just send it back... I had a blackberry last year and got used to it, it worked great and I loved it, then bought the iPhone, which I absolutely HATE now, and just wanted to go back to a blackberry. Looks like I should have researched the phone before I bought it!
Thanks anyway!

Stick with it - when you call they hopefully will say "oh, they put on the wrong data plan" which has happened before.

Good luck.
