Default Curve (8320) vs Curve II (8900)

Please Login to Remove!

Can anyone tell me the performance specs of these two phones...

I currently have the 8320, and since adding the 4.5.0.81 OS it has fallen on it's knees and started crawling. Andded to which it now continues to lockup/reboot at the most critical times, and following each reboot, which takes near eternity, all my icons have changed back to their 'default' location - I like to move my most used icons to the top. - but that is all getting off topic... so...

Can anyone show me the side by side perfomance statistics?
Things like built-in memory, cpu, etc; also if possible... some real time statistice on startup times and general performance of the 8900 model.

Thanks,
Charlie

Check out RIM's web site at Smartphones, Cell Phones & Smart Phones at BlackBerry.com

Go into Devices and you can compare the two. That's the best way to see the specifications.

"Real time" is extremely subjective.

If you are having issues with OS 4.5.0.81 you might consider changing to a different version like 124(?). It's stickied at the top of the Curve forum.

Thank you I already did that, sorry I omitted to mention... but it does not tell you about the CPU and such. Pretty much what is driving this is that I want to know that/if the Curve II is much faster.

Here is the link the comp. I made: BlackBerry - BlackBerry | Wireless Handheld Devices, Software & Services from Research In Motion (RIM)

I also understand that performance times are subjective... but an real life experience that says the 8900 starts up quicker, slower, about the same, and application 'X' runs faster on phone 'A' as opposed to the same app on phone 'B'. Not looking for 'to-the-second' reports, just a general feel.

I love(d) my 8320 till I installed the 4.5.0.18 OS, but since then have had nothing but trouble and I'm thinking that it may be time to get a new phone anyway, so wanted to know if the 8900 was a significant improvement, or if I should just keep rearranging my icons and applying new OS patches?

Again, thank you for taking the time to answer what initially appeared to be a pointless post... hope it is no longer appearing that way!

I believe the 8900 has a 512 MHz Xscale CPU, whereas the 8320 has a 312MHz one. I think with a newer device, one of the biggest pluses is having more internal memory.

GSMArena.com - GSM phone reviews, news, opinions, votes, manuals and more... has information on specifications; they have the same CPU information.
