Default LDAP Look Up Problems

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I have two users at my work site that are having the same problem with LDAP look ups. When they do a look up, the results do not give the work number of the person they are trying to find, only fax. The resolution we have found for this is to delete the appropriate service book and resend it. After resending the service books they are able to get the users work number. So this would lead one to believe that it is a corrupt file in the service book, but i'm not 100% sure on that. Has anybody experienced this problem before or know what causes it? Is there any kind of app that can interfere with the look up feature? Though having the solution to the problem is good enough for me, the customers are demanding to know the cause.

Thank you.

MS Outlook 2007 and BES Version 4.1.6.13, but the same problem has happened before when they were using MS outlook 2003.

Are you using LDAP or MAPI for Lookups.

We currently use the default MAPI and also get this problem.

Bouncing the Sync Service usually fixes the issue.

What is "Bouncing the Service"?
Is it the same as restarting it?

Drop the Box = Shutdown the Server

Good old techie slang.

Think is all came from not wanting the end users knowing what we were doing when they were within earshot.

Cool. I've never heard this slang before.
But, for sure I could never use "drop the box" because I have actually dropped a box.
Was having a bad day and it slipped out of my hands. Luckily it was still usable - just a dent.

So, if I told my co-workers to drop the box we'd have servers splattered all over the floor!
