I am a (mosty) happy owner of a 8100 Pearl carried by T-Mob. Mostly its great, but in the building at work, I get no reception. I am the ONLY person here with T-Mob, and the ONLY person who's cell phone doesn't work.

I would like to stay with T-Mobile, but I'm done putting up with no reception (especially if work is going to take away my internet privs soon). If I switch to a newer phone, like the Flip, could the "inside the building" issues be resolved? I'm in what T-Mob considers a "5 bar" area, but I don't really wanna wait until the end of August for Milwaukee to get 3G either.

I feel your pain - I'm Tmobile with an 8100 also... This might sound stupid, but, try not to hold the BlackBerry at the bottom - the antenna is at the bottom supposedly... I usually try to hold it with 1 hand at the top - REALLY irritating as hell...

Unfortunately it doesn't get reception at all, whether I'm holding it or not or anything like that.

Does your work have a wifi connection? If so, you can use uma to connect to the wifi connection and that'll let you send/receive calls. It's a helpful feature especially in areas where the carrier's signal is poor and you have a strong wifi connection.

It's a problem with T-mobile....I prefer you to change to some other provider

I have to chime in and say that many of my coworkers had Tmo as well, but I was the only one that suffered greatly inside a building. Samsungs and Nokia's were seeing a full 5 bars, while I had no signal. Irritating, but I love my blackberry too much to give it up.

Could be a phone issue. But then again it could be that BlackBerrys have more tech packed into them (not sure what type of Samsung and Nokias your coworkers have). So with the multiple receivers packed in, maybe there's some interference that prevents it from getting a better signal? A bit of a shot in the dark I know but hey that's why keeping things simple works.

Well I can only speak from what my dad has told me(I'm currently on verizon...I haven't ever had this problem and neither did he when he was on verizon). He currently is on T-Mobile only because of where he works got a great deal through their corporate account. (He pretty much gets a personal cell phone without having to pay for it). He has complained about receiving poor signal inside of buildings. He actually had a curve but just recently traded it in for a pearl flip because he prefers a small flip phone style over the curve. He says its the exact same thing; no better, no worse. He can walk outside and immediately have 5 bars but inside nothing.

I kind of think it has something to do with signal strength penetrating the walls or something. Some of the people in the building on sprint/nextel will not be able to make calls either but they are able to utilize their direct connect.
